Gillian Anderson’s “will-they, won’t-they” dynamic with David Duchovny, both on-screen and off, has captivated fans since the two were first paired together on the X-Files, but the Hannibal star reveals that there was another actor on the hit sci-fi series who tried to win her heart.
While answering fan questions for an AMA on Reddit, Gillian was asked who her favorite “monster of the week” character was. She replies that Doug Hutchison, of marrying a 16-year-old fame, nearly made the top of her list, except for one minor party foul that still sticks out in her mind.
“My favorite monster of the week used to be, well I would normally answer that it would be Tooms,” she replies. “But on the first episode that we shot, Tooms 1, It was my birthday when we were shooting it. I turned 25. And Doug offered me a birthday present. To come to my hotel room. And I did not take him up on it. And I'm very grateful now that I did not take him up on it.”
Her X-Files co-star, who joined her for the AMA, adds, “He offered me the same thing, and it wasn't even my birthday.”
Speaking at an event at L.A.’s Paley Center later that weekend, the pair revealed that, despite the lapse in time since the series ended and the last movie was brought to the screen, the whole gang is open to doing another one.
“All the principals are on board,” David tells the L.A. Times.
“Gillian and I want to do it, so it's really up to 20th Century Fox at this point.”
