Update (December 5, 2013): Looks like Forbes is changing its tune. Now the site is reporting that Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara is television's highest paid actor, having raked in $30 million between June 2012 and June 2013.

How? She gets $175,000 per episode of the ABC sitcom but also brings home checks loaded with zeroes through her endorsement deals with brands like Diet Pepsi and Cover Girl, and through her Kmart clothing line.

It's odd to us that Forbes would have declared Ashton Kutcher and his $24 million paycheck as the winner in October after reporting on Sofia's $30-million take over a month earlier. Maybe they're only now expanding their definition of "actor" to include women!

Original story (October 15, 2013):

Forbes has released its annual list of television's highest-paid actors, and it's a diverse blend of dramatic and comedic, old and young. Here are the 10 small-screen gents who are making the most dough, along with the show that is (or was) their main bread 'n butter, and a tally of their earnings.

  1. Ashton Kutcher, Two and a Half Men — $24 million

  2. Jon Cryer, Two and a Half Men — $21 million

  3. Ray Romano, Everybody Loves Raymond  — $15 million

  4. Neil Patrick Harris, How I Met Your Mother — $24 million

  5. Mark Harmon, NCIS — $15 million

  6. Patrick Dempsey, Grey's Anatomy — $13 million

  7. Tim Allen, Last Man Standing — $11 million

  8. Angus T. Jones, Two and a Half Men — $11 million

  9. Michael C. Hall, Dexter — $10 million

  10. Charlie Sheen, Anger Management — $10 million

Surprised? So are we. The upshot seems to be that it really pays to be an actor (or former star) of Two and a Half Men. Even the guys who aren't on the show anymore — Charlie and Angus — rake in the cash through hefty syndication checks.

Speaking of syndication moolah, Ray Romano is still flying high, even though Everybody Loves Raymond ended over eight years ago.
