I’m not doing drugs — that’s the message Joe Jonas has for fans concerning rumors his personal addiction problems are behind the breakup of the Jonas Brothers.
We hope the 24-year-old singer could understand why people have questions. After all, the three brothers abruptly canceled a 19-stop tour before doing away with their group’s official Twitter account.
Then, on October 29 the Brothers Jonas officially announced they’re calling it quits, news they hammered home during an October 30 appearance on Good Morning America. Add in the multiple sightings of Joe with the same addiction specialist who worked with ex-girlfriend Demi Lovato and it’s understandable why people have some concerns.
However, all of the recent upheaval isn’t because Joe is battling a serious drug addiction, he says.
“It’s ridiculous,” Joe tells People. “We’re not saying anything for two or three weeks and I’m a drug addict.” He just went quiet because what with the breakup, “I needed time to clear my head.”
“I’ve never touched heroin in my life. Neither has my girlfriend [Blanda Eggenschwiler],” he adds. “It’s hilarious to me, but also frustrating as well. It pissed me off when it’s about my girl and even about myself.”
The rumors have gained so much ground people are even approaching Joe on the street. “People are asking me if they can give me a hug and how rehab is,” he says. “I’m like, ‘You tell me because I’ve never been.’”
What do you make of the rumors? Think they’re just a bunch of baloney or something more serious? Sound off in the comments below.
