Kaley Cuoco may know that her whirlwind romance with fiance Ryan Sweeting comes across as a bit wild to some, but the Big Bang Theory star says that she wouldn’t have it any other way.

In an appearance on Thursday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the actress reveals that prior to getting together with her professional tennis player fiance, she was in a dark place, romantically. Having recently broken off her short-lived relationship with Man of Steel star Henry Cavill, Kaley was down in the dumps about romance, until a friend convinced her to meet the Bahamian-born athlete.

“I had kind of an interesting situation over the summer and I was kind of in a weird place and a very close mutual friend ours said, 'Oh my god, have you met this guy Ryan?'" Kaley tells Ellen. "I was just not in a good place to meet anyone. I said, 'I'm not ready. I'm taking time away from love for a while.' I was very sad. And they said, 'You know, he's coming to town. You've got one day to meet him, have a drink, and meet him.'"

The actress admits that she was less-than-thrilled about the prospect of having to make small talk with a stranger and was initially coming up with excuses to get out of the date. "I was putting it off and really nervous about it and just not wanting to do this. And so they gave him my number and he texted me. He was like, 'I'm coming to L.A.' I'm like, 'Oh my god, so now I have to see this guy? Do I have to hang out with him all weekend? Is he going to be here for, like, days?'"

However, after meeting Ryan, Kaley reveals, “We're still on our first date. He never went home!"

While the couple hasn’t set a wedding date yet, Kaley says she’s just thrilled about experiencing this part of her life with Ryan.

“I am very, very happy," she says. "Life is so good right now.”
