We were equal parts shocked and saddened when actress Brittany Murphy suddenly passed away in December 2009 at 32 years old. Originally, her death was attributed to complications due to pneumonia and anemia, but now, new evidence may call to open her case again.

After Brittany’s father, Angelo Bertolotti, sued the coroner’s office and the Los Angeles Police Department, new toxicology tests were run. And the results? Ten different heavy metals were detected to be in Brittany’s system — the kind of metals you’d find in rat poisoning and insecticides.

This could mean new investigations into the cause of Brittany’s death as well as the death of her husband, Simon Monjack, who died just five months after Brittany.

According to the toxicology report, “If we were to eliminate the possibility of a simultaneous accidental heavy metals exposure to the sample donor then the only logical explanation would be an exposure to these metals (toxins) administered by a third party perpetrator with likely criminal intent.”

Her father has been determined to find the real cause of Brittany’s death knowing that pneumonia could be just a symptom of heavy metal poisoning, and he wants to set the record straight.

“My daughter was neither anorexic nor a drug junkie, as they repeatedly implied. Brittany and Simon were ridiculed by The Hollywood Reporter, when they complained of being under surveillance and in fear for their lives,” Angelo said. “I will not rest until the truth about these tragic events is told. There will be justice for Brittany.”
