2013 has been a huge year for British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. Grammy nomination, opening for Taylor Swift on her Red tour, selling out three nights at Madison Square Garden? All of these accomplishments are certainly nothing to balk at.
But being included in People’s Sexiest Man Alive issue alongside cover star Adam Levine? Now, Ed says, his dad’s finally impressed.
“To be included in the Sexiest Man Alive issue of People magazine is… interesting,” the adorable ginger said in an interview on the set of his photoshoot for the mag. “Thank you for that. That’s very kind. My dad’s very proud.”
In the shoot, Ed poses with a puppy, and is faced with questions he’s never had to answer before. And regardless of how sexy he may be, he’s insisting his appearance takes little to no effort.
“Getting ready is quite a quick process,” Ed admitted. “I put on a suit… or not. I will put on a jumper, sometimes. I get voted worst dressed a lot, so I don’t really put in that much effort anymore.”
But it’s OK — now that Ed’s playing Madison Square Garden and one of the Sexiest Men Alive, he’s happy just to have his dad’s approval.
“My dad told me when I was eleven years old that you haven’t made it until you’ve played Madison Square Garden,” Ed said. “I had a bit of a breakdown with him asking if I was good enough yet. I didn’t really, but that would have been funny.”
How could you not love this guy? Don’t worry, Ed. We think it’s safe to say you’ve made it.
