Hope Gal Gadot is handy with a lasso. The 28-year-old Israeli actress has been cast as Wonder Woman for the upcoming Man of Steel sequel, according to an E! News report. She’ll star alongside the likes of Ben Affleck (Batman) and Henry Cavill (Superman) in the 2015 film tentatively titled Batman vs. Superman.
“Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe,” the film’s director, Zack Snyder, wrote in a statement. “Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role.”
Zack doesn’t specify what “that magical quality” may be, but we like to think Gal proved her worth by throwing a tiara around during auditions. Or maybe she showed up driving an invisible airplane?
The soon-to-be superheroine previously appeared on the HBO series Entourage and starred in several The Fast and The Furious movies. Her addition to the Man of Steel cast is a bit of happy news for the Fast & Furious family who are currently dealing with the loss of franchise star Paul Walker.
The 40-year-old actor died in a car accident on November 30. He and Gal co-starred in both the first, fifth, and sixth installments of the series, in which she played Gisele Harabo, girlfriend of street racer Han Lue (Sung Kang). We don’t want to spoil Fast & Furious 6 for any fans out there, but let’s just say it’s good Gal got another role lined up.
