A prolific director and choreographer is on the move toward sobriety.

Adam Shankman — who has appeared as a judge on So You Think You Can Dance and directed the hit 2006 film Hairspray — has checked into rehab, according to Us Weekly.

"Adam Shankman is currently seeking treatment in a rehabilitation center," says Adam's rep. "His friends and family support him and wish him well on his journey to recovery."

Adam, 49, was spotted in public as recently as this weekend when he attended the TrevorLIVE event in Hollywood on December 8. Adam appeared to be in good spirits when posing for photos at the event with Glee stars Darren Criss, Jane Lynch, and Adam Lambert.

Adam has directed numerous films, including Rock of Ages, Bedtime StoriesCheaper by the Dozen 2, and The Wedding Planner. He has also directed episodes of Glee and Modern Family, and he directed the Broadway revival of Bye, Bye Birdie in 2011.

He rose to fame in showbiz as a choreographer. Among the films he has choreographed include hits like Step Up, starring a young Channing Tatum. And speaking of young Channing, just give us a minute to wipe up our drool puddle. Okay, we're good. Adam is also close friends with Zac Efron, who himself recently completed rehab.

We wish Adam all the best as he continues to recover.
