You may be accustomed to hearing Katy Perry roar, but it seems like that’s not the only catty sound the singer’s accustomed to making.
During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show with her boyfriend, John Mayer, Katy gave a particularly cutting answer to a question from Ellen about whether or not the couple’s video for “Who You Love,” which features John, Katy, and other couples riding a mechanical bull, was a response to Kanye West’s ode to Americana, “Bound 2.” The video, starring Kanye and fiancée Kim Kardashian suggestively riding a motorcycle together, debuted on Ellen's show last month.
"Yes,” answered Katy. “I thought our response was a little bit more authentic because my hair was blowing in the right direction, though.”
Ouch, Kimye. Let’s hope somebody has some ice on hand for that burn.
Despite Katy’s critique, the couple of over a year had only kind things to say about working together on the video.
“We did it in one day and they were real-life couples," said Katy.
"All of us and they were put on a bull and just shot in slow motion," added John. "That was the first time I did it sober. That was the first sober bull ride."
While the motion of Katy’s wild waves may have felt more authentic than that of Kim’s newly-blonde locks, it doesn’t seem to have had much impact on the music industry’s feeling toward either song — while both Katy and Kanye are up for Grammys this year, neither “Who You Love” nor “Bound 2” made the list.
