Officially back from vacation, Robin Roberts returned to Good Morning America this morning full of stories from her time off. One of the biggest events, of course, was a little social media message Robin posted at the end of last month.
In the December 29 Facebook post, Robin publicly acknowledged her long-time girlfriend, Amber, for the first time. She listed Amber as one of the many people she’s grateful for “as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together.”
As such, it only seems fitting that one of Robin’s first orders of business in 2014 would be to introduce Amber via GMA and so on this morning’s show, the 53-year-old journalist and cancer survivor did just that.
“The family was all together in Baton Rouge over the weekend, and we have a family photo,” Robin says (via The Wrap) before sharing a sweet pic of the Roberts crew at a wedding. “Next to me is my girlfriend, Amber,” Robin pointed out.
Fellow GMA cast member George Stephanopoulos noted that Robin’s coming out was “no surprise” to her morning news team and added that he hopes it has been “a good experience” for his co-worker.
Robin quickly assured him it has been. “I’m going to tell you all this, because you have had a front row seat for that tumultuous year: I have never been happier or healthier than I am right now.”
That’s what we like to hear! Congratulations and happy 2014 to Robin and Amber!
