If anyone knows how to break our hearts, it’s Adam Brody. First, he effectively eliminated all possibilities that we could ever become Mrs. Adam Brody when he proposed to his now-fiance Leighton Meester — sure, he and the former Gossip Girl star are absolutely adorable together, but he’d be even more adorable with us.

And now, he’s predicting the future of our fictional teenage crush: Seth Cohen, the Grand Theft Auto and comic-book loving nerd that stole our hearts… and any available wall space in our bedrooms. And according to Adam, it’s not looking good.

“If I had to predict, I’d say Seth Cohen is dead,” Adam revealed in a recent interview with Nylon. “I think he’d be going down to Mexico and probably had a bad car accident. It wasn’t any fault of his own, but knowing what I know now about Seth and his poor decision making, that’s my guess.”

Sounds a lot like the way Marissa (Mischa Barton) went out — in a blazing car wreck that did not result in a successful film career the way Mischa had hoped. We will now play Imogen Heap’s rendition of Jeff Buckley’s “Hallelujah” on a loop in remembrance.

But even though in Adam’s mind, Seth is dead, it doesn’t mean he’s not having a blast in the afterlife. “He’s probably hanging out in heaven watching Jimi Hendrix and Lou Reed live,” Adam said. “He’s getting the best concert ever!”

We like the way The OC ended Seth’s story better — a happy, beautiful wedding to longtime crush and eventual girlfriend, Summer (Rachel Bilson). We choose to believe those two crazy kids are living in a McMansion on the beach somewhere, eating lots of bagels and sending their kids to spend their summers with Uncle Ryan Atwood.
