Sounds like all that singing about girl power wasn’t all for naught: Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham says that her marriage to David Beckham is all about equality.
“[David] is the most wonderful man I have ever met. He’s a fantastic father,” Victoria told Allure when she covered their March 2014 issue. “He’s incredibly talented, a wonderful husband. I supported him for many years, and he’s proud of me. He supports me. We’re very equal at home.”
While we’re not exactly surprised that anyone’s marriage to David Beckham is a happy one, we love the fact that this one has worked out — and for 14 years, which might as well be 50 in Hollywood. And according to Victoria, some of her favorite times in those years have been the ones she spent in the US.
“Living in America for six years was the happiest I think I’ve ever been,” she said. “Yeah, it was much more accepting for a woman to have a career, as well as a man. And I loved it.”
But whether anyone likes it or not, Victoria definitely has a career — the 39-year-old is now a full fledged fashion designer, although she claimed she “was never a natural” and that she owes her success to “[believing] if you work hard enough, then you can achieve a lot.” Now, she’s about to open her first store in London, and the city will be better dressed for it.
“I find that even the simplest of dresses, if it has the correct seaming and the correct fabric, whatever shape or size you are, it can change the way you hold yourself,” she said.
