There are still 2 more months to go before we get our first glimpses of Angelina Jolie in the title role of Maleficent, but there’s one thing we know for sure: her portrayal of the evil queen is absolutely terrifying… especially if you ask her kids, who were totally scared of their mom in costume.

And, okay, maybe not just when she was in costume. While filming the movie, Angelina developed a habit of bringing her work home with her.

“I was quite sad to put my staff down and put my horns away because, somehow, she just lives in a different world,” Angelina tells Entertainment Weekly. “But I did have to take my staff home to practice walking with it in my cloak, and then I would go outside and scream at the bushes to expand my voice and play with my voice. So, Mom was a bit nutso for a period.”

No kidding… although we’re sure it eventually became pretty funny.

And speaking of the horns Angelina had to wear while filming, costume designers had to put together several different kinds for the different types of scenes she’d need to wear them in, especially since if they were too heavy while Angie was filming a fight scene, a fall could easily break her neck.

“I could take [the magnetic horns] off for lunch or I could just give my neck a break. When they weren’t the magnetic ones, I did almost knock myself out quite a few times,” the 38-year-old actress shares. “It’s not just that you’re a foot taller on top, you’re also in five inch heels so you are really big. I was out of whack for a bit. Definitely, it took me awhile to become graceful with her.”

Brave enough to see Angie in action, horns and all? You can check out Maleficent when it hits theaters May 30.
