Now that Shailene Woodley is officially our new fave celebrity BFF, we’re ready to take beauty advice from someone who’s as gorgeous and down to earth as she is. Until we heard the advice she’s dishing out, that is.
Let us give you an example. Earlier this week, Shailene shared some of her top beauty secrets with Into The Gloss, and they involved out-there stuff like eating clay and sunbathing her you-know-what to absorb more vitamin D. Sound strange? Shailene swears by both practices.
“Clay is one of the best things you can put in your body,” Shailene advises. “I’ve discovered that clay is great for you because your body doesn’t absorb it, and it apparently provides a negative charge, so it bonds to negative isotopes. And, this is crazy: It also helps clean heavy metals out of your body.”
And as for the, um, other thing? “I was reading an article written by a herbalist I studied about yeast infections and other genital issues,” Shailene explains. “She said there’s nothing better than vitamin D. If you’re feeling depleted, go in the sun for an hour and see how much energy you get. Or, if you live in a place that has heavy winters, when the sun finally comes out, spread your legs and get some sunshine.”
And although a lot of people have admitted they see Shailene’s approach to natural beauty a little strange, the Divergent actress isn’t too concerned about it.
“I guess this is an honor in a way, right?” Shailene tells E! Online. “Because these are things that I believe in and I think it’s sort of beautiful for us to take our sovereignty and our health back into our hands. And if I can sort of be a voice for that, then what a really honorable position to be in.”
Good attitude to have! We love you, Shailene… but maybe we’ll stick to wearing pants outside.
