If you had to pick a pop diva to fete at your next birthday celebration, who would it be? Some of you might go with Beyonce or Britney, but Perez Hilton took it back to the original for his big 3-6: the one and only Madonna.

The infamous gossip blogger threw what he dubbed a “Madonnathon” for his big day on Saturday, March 22, at 42West in NYC; and it was like something out of a Material Girl fan’s fever dream.

Among guests in attendance were Mob Wives’ Natalie GuercioVampire Diaries’ Kat Graham, and R&B comeback kid JoJo, who also pulled out a killer 4-song performance at the Botran Rum-sponsored event. So why did Perez go with Madonna for his theme?

“Madonna is my ultimate icon and inspiration in life,” he told Wetpaint Entertainment exclusively on the red carpet. “Nothing makes me happier than listening to her music. So an entire night themed around that is the most selfish thing I could do for myself.”

The guest of honor asked all of his fabulous and famous friends to show up to the party in Madonna-inspired ensembles, and boy, did they turn it out! For his part, Perez went with a “Blonde Ambition” era outfit, which he says served as “the pinnacle of Madonna mania” when the star wore it for “Keep It Together” — the last song in the iconic tour.

Celeb stylist June Ambrose, who designed Perez’s look, was also in attendance in a “Take a Bow” era outfit, courtesy of Moschino.

“I worked on Perez’s outfit, and I was like, ‘You know what? I’m just gonna take a bow!’” she told us. June was also working with the ultimate accessory: her arm candy and former America’s Next Top Model judge Mr. Jay Manuel. “We’re #JayandJune!” she said of the pair’s longtime friendship.

Also there to help Perez celebrate was RuPaul’s Drag Race star Carmen Carrera, who told us her favorite Madonna song is “Like a Prayer” — which just celebrated its 25th anniversary last week! “Growing up, I remember the video being so controversial and dramatic, with the church themes and being so interracial,” she said. “It was just an amazing song and an amazing video.”

After starting off his new year with such a bang, what does Perez have planned next? “It would be nice to meet a good man. For now, I’ll just settle with somebody fun to date,” he spilled. We’ve got our fingers crossed for ya!
