Whether it's because of her Academy Award win or just her impressive acting chops, the Force is definitely strong with Lupita Nyong'o!
The 31-year-old 12 Years a Slave actress is one of two cast additions just announced for Star Wars: Episode VII via the official website — the next installment in the venerable Star Wars film series.
The other thespian joining the highly-anticipated movie is Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie — who also has a role in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2. (Lucky her!)
"I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII," Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy raves. "It's thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape."
The rest of that ensemble includes Adam Driver (Girls), Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis), Andy Serkis (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), and more newcomers to the franchise — who join Star Wars veterans like Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill.
J.J. Abrams (Star Trek, Lost) is at the helm of this continuation.
Star Wars: Episode VII hits theaters on December 18, 2015 — two months after the live-action remake of The Jungle Book, for which Lupita will voice Raksha.
Suffice it to say, 2015 will be a big year for this girl!
