Update (3:31 p.m. PST July 28, 2014):
Kiefer had no idea Freddie had a beef with him! That, at least, is what Kiefer's rep tells TMZ.
"Kiefer worked with Freddie Prinze, Jr. more than five years ago, and this is the first he has heard of Freddie's grievances," the rep adds. "Kiefer enjoyed working with Freddie and wishes him the best." We think that's called taking the high road?
A Fox official backs up Kiefer's rep, saying the actor was "nothing but professional during the run of the show and is beloved by cast and crew." Well, minus Freddie, that is.
Original story (1:07 p.m. PST July 28, 2014):
The kingdom of Hollywood nearly lost one Prinze — and it all would have been Kiefer Sutherland's fault!
Freddie Prinze Jr., the '90s heartthrob of I Know What You Did Last Summer and She's All That fame, says working alongside Kiefer on Season 8 of 24 nearly made him quit acting.
The 38-year-old actor starred as CTU Director of Field Operations Cole Ortiz that season, and though the role was his most high-profile gig in years, it was also the one that nearly ended his acting career.
"I did 24. It was terrible. I hated every moment of it," Freddie told ABC News at Comic-Con this weekend, where he was promoting his new Disney XD series, Star Wars Rebels.
"Kiefer was the most unprofessional dude in the world. That's not me talking trash. I'd say it to his face. I think everyone that's worked with him has said that."
As Freddie elaborated, it became clear that Freddie and Kiefer's height difference might have been an obstacle: "I went and worked for Vince McMahon at the WWE for Christ's sake, and it was a crazier job than working with Kiefer. But at least he was cool and tall. I didn't have to take my shoes off to do scenes with him, which they made me do. Just put the guy on an apple box or don't hire me next time. You know I'm 6 feet, and he's [5-foot-4]."
