Dammit Janet, this is not cool. The Manhattan home of Oscar-winner Susan Sarandon was hit by a thief Saturday night, the New York PD confirmed to People. Thankfully, no one was home at the time. Susan was actually out of town, but her 22-year-old son, Miles Robbins, was at the house that night. He stepped out, probably for the usual Saturday night shenanigans, around 8 or 9 p.m., and when he returned around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, he reportedly saw that someone had been in the home. So he called the police.
Law enforcement believe the intruder(s) entered the home through a terrace window or door, and they made off with a camera, laptop and some of the actress' jewelry. People said officials are waiting for Susan to get home so she can assess the damage and give a value to what was taken.
It's definitely not the kind of news you want to come home to — it's scary, and makes you feel violated — but at least everyone seems to be OK. A new security system is probably going to be added too, you'd imagine.
In happier news, Susan is awaiting the birth of her grandchild. The 67-year-old Dead Man Walking (and Rocky Horror) star told Closer Weekly her daughter Eva Amurri Martino will deliver her baby at home this summer. Eva looks like she's ready to pop at any moment.
So that's something positive to focus on, while she and her son probably fret about whatever was in the camera and laptop. Hopefully the police can nab the thieves. If only people could keep their hands to themselves!
