Prepared for your daily cry? If you’re not already welling up from the headline above, you better get the tissues ready because Ed Sheeran, English ginger teddy bear and part-time angel, recently found himself playing arguably the most important show of his career.
Over Twitter, the 23-year-old artist was asked to sing the last song for dying teenager Triona Priestley, who was suffering from cystic fibrosis. Ed responded to the Twitter campaign #SongForTri and gave the Dublin teen a call on Sunday, March 30.
While Ed was singing her favorite song, “Little Bird”, Triona slipped into sleep and passed away shortly afterwards, her brother told newspaper The Irish Independent. “What they gave us and her was a beautiful last moment together,” he said of the people who supported #SongForTri. “We would like to thank everyone who played their part in making that happen.”
Ed publicly acknowledged Triona’s passing earlier this week, tweeting April 1, “Rest in peace Triona, so heartbreaking x.”
Our thoughts go out to Triona, her family, and her friends during this difficult time, and much love to Ed Sheeran for making her last wish come true.
