Keira Knightley has played a duchess, a pirate, and a soccer star on the big screen, but in real life she likes to just play “normal.” The gorg gal graces the cover of this month’s Glamour, and reveals to the mag that she doesn’t live lavishly, despite her enviable income. In fact, she tries to limit herself to a salary of $50K per year, just to stay social.
“I think living an expensive lifestyle means you can’t hang out with people who don’t live that lifestyle. It alienates you,” says the star of the upcoming romantic comedy, Begin Again. BTW, she plays a struggling songwriter in the new flick, which makes us wonder if her frugality helped her tap into the role.
The Brit beauty goes on to say that you don’t need loads of cashola to cash in on fun. “Some of my best, most hilarious times have been in the least luxurious places.” Amen, sistah friend. We spent half of high school in the DQ parking lot and we turned out just fine (sort of).
Of course, Keira does get to breathe easier than most, knowing that fat stacks of cash are just sitting there in the bank waiting for her should the need arise. “I mean, if I want or need something that goes over that I get it, but yes, I keep it around that.” If we were Keira, we’d be going over on the reg. Prada doesn’t just buy itself, ya know?
What do you think of Keira’s self-imposed salary? Down to earth, or would you blow it all if you had it?
