Celine Dion’s career is officially going under a major shift. On Thursday, Celine’s husband, Rene Angelil, announced that he will be stepping down as Celine’s manager in order to for former Cirque du Soleil head Aldo Giampaolo to take over calling the shots in his wife’s career.
So what made Rene decide to end his time as Celine’s manager? According to The Hollywood Reporter, he’s simply keeping his wife’s best interest at heart at the same time that Aldo is becoming CEO of Feeling Productions, which already oversees the veteran singer’s career.
“Considering our long-standing friendship, our mutual respect, and our past collaborations, this was a logical step for all of us,” Rene said in a statement.
And, of course, Aldo is excited about his new position as CEO and Celine’s manager. “I am extremely touched and honored to be offered this new challenge, and I see it as a continuation of the close working relationship that Rene and I have enjoyed for the past 25 years,” he said.
This could be a great move where Rene and Celine’s marriage is concerned. No longer do they have to worry about snags in their business relationship affecting their personal one, which has been going strong since Rene first discovered Celine’s talent when she was just 12 years old. They might have a 26-year age difference between them, but their marriage has been going strong for almost 20 years.
And let’s be real: As long as Celine’s music is still being heard, she’ll be a musical legend no matter what.
