Chad Carroll of Million Dollar Listing Miami: I’m the “Best Realtor in Town” — Exclusive

You may think you know Million Dollar Listing, having seen the shows set in both Los Angeles and New York City, but you haven’t seen anything yet! The hit Bravo franchise is headed to the Sunshine State to show you the craziness of the real estate market in Miami.

This installment in the franchise stars Chad Carroll, Chris Leavitt, and Samantha DeBianchi as they set out to score listings, make sales, and, most importantly, rake in the dollar bills. Wetpaint Entertainment sat down with Chad ahead of tonight’s series premiere and got the skinny on the man they call “The King of Closing.”

Wetpaint Entertainment: How did you get to be involved with the show? Did you audition or were you scouted?

Chad Carroll: I mean, they obviously wanted the best realtor in town, so they made the right choice.

How was the move from Ohio — where you’re from — to sunny Miami?

I’m originally from Ohio and I bring those Midwest values of loyalty and honesty to my clients. And I think that’s really made me who I am today. I’ve been down in Miami for five and a half years and it’s been an amazing ride — it’s been a roller coaster from the bottom up, literally.

Are you familiar with the other Million Dollar Listing shows? Is there anyone from them that you’re close to?

I’m a big fan of Million Dollar Listing New York and Los Angeles. Fredrik [Eklund] and I have recently become friendly and Luis [Ortiz] is now working for the same company. I would say it’s a great camaraderie and everyone is rooting for each other. I’m looking forward to expanding our relationships.

Do you have any crazy run-ins with clients that you’ll always remember?

Well, you’re going to see a lot of that on the show. My life is full of craziness with very demanding and high-class clientele. When you watch the show you’re going to see a lot of those crazy experiences. I go above and beyond for my clients.

How much competition is there between you and your co-stars?

Chris and I may work for the same company, but we’re still competing for that same No. 1 position. I didn’t really know him before this season and we ended up co-listing a property this season and as our relationship builds, you’ll see how that progresses. And Sam I’ve known for quite a while and I’ve always supported her and everything she’s doing. But there’s some tension at times because of that prior friendship.

If you had to describe your co-stars in just a few words, what would you say?

Chris is outrageous and Sam is over-confident.

How did you meet your girlfriend, Jen Stone?

We’ve been together for about four years now and we met through a mutual family friend, actually. It’s been a long ride and she’s a very important part of my life and you’re going to see how that relationship progresses throughout the season. Professionally, she’s part of the reason why I’m the business professional I am today.

Are there any relationship milestones we can expect from you guys this season?

There’s a possible engagement on the show, but there’s a lot of twists and turns, so we’ll see how that unfolds. It’s definitely a roller coaster of events.

We see you get pretty angry and throw a glass in the promo for the season, what happened there?

Real estate is high tension. When you’re dealing with multi-million dollar properties and sometimes multi-million dollar commissions, things get tense.

Have you set your goals higher than just being a realtor and dabbled in developing?

I’m actively pursuing developmental opportunities for myself. My ultimate goal is to be the next big developer in town and have my team and myself sell the projects.

What sets the real estate market in Miami apart from New York and Los Angeles?

Real estate in Miami is completely different. You’re not just selling the real estate, you’re selling the whole lifestyle component with it. Multi-million dollar buyers want multi-million dollar service — and that’s where I come in. There’s nothing I won’t do for a client.

What’s exciting about Miami versus L.A. or New York is the sex appeal that Miami has: beautiful people, amazing beaches, nightclubs, restaurants. People come to Miami to live their dream and to experience it, and that’s exactly what we’re going to show viewers.

How has your time on the show been?

At first, it took some time getting used to, with cameras following you around, but after a while it became an ordinary part of my life. Amazing experience and amazing opportunity to expand this franchise and I’ve loved every moment of it.

Million Dollar Listing Miami premieres tonight, June 25, at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
