Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson Officially Joins Canadian Football Team
Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson is back on the football field, but not in America.
After allegedly assaulting his then-wife —Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada — in 2012 just weeks after the pair got married, Chad was dropped from the Miami Dolphins, lost numerous sponsorships, and Ev soon divorced him. Because of the nasty allegations that the footballer head-butted his new bride during an argument, many thought once he was let go from the Dolphins he’d never play football again, but apparently Chad has found a team that’s willing to give him a second chance… in Canada!
That’s right, folks. The former Miami man recently headed up to our neighbors to the north and joined the Montreal Alouettes as the team’s wide receiver. FOX Sportsreports he played his first game with the Canadian team last Friday, June 2O, and caught one pass for 13 yards on the first play from scrimmage.
Unfortunately for Chad, that seemed to be the highlight of his first game, as he and quarterback Troy Smith didn’t connect on several other attempts. Whoopsie! It was only a preseason game, but in the end Chad’s team lost to the Ottawa RedBlacks, 26-10.
Still, Chad told the Montreal Gazette he was excited to be playing football again, and used an interesting analogy to describe his pre-game feelings and emotions. “It’s similar to the feeling before I lost my virginity,” he said of hitting the football field again. “There’s a certain level of excitement ... anticipation ... not knowing what’s going to happen or what I’m going to get.”
Normally we would apologize to Canada for sending them a gem like Chad, but they gave us Justin Bieber, so we’d say we’re even.
Are you shocked Chad is playing football again, or do you think it’s about time people forgave him for what he allegedly did? Sound off below!
