Move aside, Ben Affleck, there’s a new "Daredevil" in town!
Variety is reporting that British actor Charlie Cox has snagged the titular role in Marvel and Netflix’s new live-action series. Charlie is most known for his role opposite of Claire Danes in “Stardust” as well as his role in season three of HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire.”
“Daredevil” is the latest one of Marvel’s heroes to get its own solo series — along with “Jessica Jones,” “Iron Fist,” and “Luke Cage” — set in and around Hell’s Kitchen, New York. “Daredevil” has an initial order of 13 episodes. After each individual solo series wraps up, the four comic book characters will group together for a special miniseries event on Netflix titled “The Defenders.”
Charlie’s casting announcement wasn’t the only bit of news to break in the past few days. News broke over the weekend that showrunner Drew Goddard stepped down from the series and was replaced by Steven S. DeKnight, the creator of “Spartacus.”
Charlie is repped by WME and 3 Arts Entertainment.
