Chelsea Houska Reveals How MTV Felt About Cole’s Off-Camera Proposal
But this was no choice of theirs. On the After Show that aired immediately after the ep, Chels gave more details on Cole DeBoer’s romantic proposal — apparently he told her they were going grocery shopping, how cute?! — and how her crew and producers felt about not being around to film him getting down on one knee.
“I don’t think they were super happy that they missed it,” the bride-to-be said. “They would’ve liked to be there. They’re like, ‘We’re supposed to have access,’ I’m like, ‘I didn’t know he was gonna do it!’’
Sure, girl. Just blame it on the fiancé!
But we can’t say we’re too surprised. Chelsea is adamant about not having super personal moments of her life documented on the show, and has made it clear their upcoming fall wedding won’t be filmed.
“Our wedding is just something so personal and we’re having a small intimate wedding and it just didn’t feel right just for us to have it aired to millions of people (laughs).” Chelsea told Wetpaint of her choice to keep the big day private. “Even though I appreciate the support and I’m so grateful for everyone who is so happy for us, people will be able to see the planning and pictures and stuff like that so I’m not leaving them with nothing.”

And that last part is true. We did get to see photos of the proposal on the episode, plus Aubree’s mama later shared some shots from the November proposal on Instagram.
But the 24-year-old has no regrets on how she and her future husband are going about it.
“I was glad the [cameras] weren’t there,” she added. “We got to enjoy that moment and have it to ourselves.”
If only we felt the same way!
