Quick facts:

Full Name: Cheryl Bautista Burke
Age: 28
Dance Style: Latin
Nationality: American
Height: 5'4"

Background:
Born in Atherton, California, Cheryl Burke comes from a family of recreational dancers and is of Filipino, Russian, and Irish descent. Since the age of four, she has danced, taking ballet lessons and performing locally, and practicing on the dance floor at her family's home in Atherton. Burke's focus soon shifted to ballroom dancing after watching a ballroom dancing competition. She says, "I went to a competition and saw the costumes, heard the music, and loved that the dancers had partners." Incidentally, these are the some of same reasons we love DWTS. Cheryl began competing at age 13 and has won several professional Latin dance competitions throughout her professional dance career. Burke also runs two dance studios in the San Francisco Bay area.

DWTS Data:
Burke was the one to beat on DWTS. As the only professional dancer to appear in the finals three times, Cheryl's won back-to-back Dancing With The Stars titles: in Season 2 with singer Drew Lachey, and then again in Season 3 with former NFL running back Emmitt Smith. She was nominated for two Outstanding Choreography Emmys in 2006 for her work on DWTS. Cheryl was rumored to have hooked up with Season 2 partner Drew Lachey, though they both have denied it. Bonus DWTS tie-in: Cheryl dated Matt Lawrence, brother of Season 3 contestant Joey Lawrence, in 2007-08. Who needs Match.com when you've got ballroom dancing?

Beyond DWTS:

Burke exercised her acting chops on a guest role on the Disney Channel series The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, in the episode "Loosely Ballroom" along with fellow Dancing professionals Louis van Amstel and Ashly DelGrosso. She portrays Shannon, a nurse attending to the ensemble cast during a dance contest at the series setting, The Tipton Hotel. In the final round of the competition, Burke's character volunteers to replace an sick competitor.

In 2011, Cheryl released her autobiography, Dancing Lessons.
