Cheryl Burke Disagrees with Julianne Hough About Jack Osbourne

Jack Osbourne and Cheryl Burke danced first last week on Dancing With the Stars Season 17, Week 4, so they were the first ones to face guest judge Julianne Hough’s tough love.

Julianne said Jack’s Quickstep showed improvement from the previous week, adding that ballroom is his strong suit and — in a joke about Cheryl’s PMS in rehearsals — “if you can put up with Cheryl…” However, Julianne said Jack has to trust that he’s amazing and show that he’s having fun. That was missing for her. Carrie Ann Inaba disagreed with Julianne, saying Jack was way more animated than before.

Cheryl talked to TV Guide after the show and she sided with Carrie Ann, while also admitting that Jack does sometimes concentrate too much on his steps. “I think he does, but like I said, he's not a performer. He has never done this before. So I think last week, I actually will disagree with [Julianne] just a little bit... I understand where she's coming from. He needs to dance more from the heart and show more emotion, and just stop trying to be so perfect. But at the end of the day, if you look at from Week 1 to last week, he had a huge improvement with his expression.”

Jack shouldn’t mind being compared to Rob, since Rob made it to second place on Season 13, which is one place further than Jack’s own sister, Kelly Osbourne, on Season 9. Rob ended up surprising a lot of people, in a good way. He did have some of the same self-deprecating habits as Jack, but Jack seems even harder on himself than Rob and maybe that’s what was coming through to Julianne. Just have fun!

Actually, save fun for another week — tonight they are going to get emotional for Week 5’s Most Memorable Year theme. Jack has the slow Waltz to show his deep, vulnerable side. Here’s who else is dancing what tonight.

What do you think? Do you see the Rob Kardashian comparison? Do you think Jack needs to relax and show more personality on the dance floor?
