Original story (7/28/2017 at 15:30 p.m. ET):
Fans around the world were shocked at news Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington committed suicide a little over a week ago.
But, of course, it was his family most devastated by the loss.
Chester’s wife, Talinda, has now released a heartbreaking tribute to her husband, as well as addressing their friends and family, and his fans.
1997 or 1998...I think this was the first photo we ever took together. We had just told Chester that we wanted him to join the band. He said he was ready to move out from Arizona to L.A. We went to a pizza place near UCLA to hang out and talk about what to do next. The band was called Xero at the time, and we probably had less than a half a dozen songs. No flame tattoos yet, no red hair yet, most of us were still in college.
“How do I move on? How do I pick up my shattered soul?” she said.
“The only answer I know is to raise our babies with every ounce of love I have left.”
The pair had three children together, and Chester had three other kids from previous relationships.
“I want to let my community and the fans worldwide know that we feel your love,” the mom of three continued.
“We feel your loss as well. My babies are so young to have lost their daddy.”
Their three children, Tyler, Lila, and Lily, are all under the age of 12.
The 40-year-old went on to say she lost her soulmate and their children lost their hero.
She also asked fans to keep his memory alive and noted that Chester is now “pain free singing his songs in all of our hearts.”
Talinda then asked fans to turn to each other when they’re in pain.
Her statement in full:
“One week ago, I lost my soulmate and my children lost their hero-their Daddy. We had a fairytale life and now it has turned into some sick Shakespearean tragedy.
“How do I move on? How do I pick up my shattered soul? The only answer I know is to raise our babies with every ounce of love I have left."
“I want to let my community and the fans worldwide know that we feel your love. We feel your loss as well. My babies are so young to have lost their daddy. And I know that all of you will help keep his memory alive.
“He was a bright, loving soul with an angel’s voice. And now he is pain free singing his songs in all of our hearts.
“May God Bless us all and help us turn to one another when we are in pain. Chester would’ve wanted us to do so. Rest In Peace, my love.”
Chester’s body was found at his private residence in Palos Verdes Estates in Los Angeles on July 20.
He was found with a belt around his neck but there was no suicide note.
It is now believed that Chester mimicked the suicide of his good friend Chris Cornell, the lead vocalist for the rock bands Soundgarden and Audioslave.
Chris passed away in May of this year.
Our thoughts continue to be with Chester’s family and friends during this difficult time.
