Cheyenne Jackson Opens Up About His Divorce, Praises “Kind” Cory Monteith

Broadway vet and onetime Glee actor Cheyenne Jackson revealed last week that he is getting a divorce from his husband Monte Lapka after 13 years together. Now, the 38-year-old who played Vocal Adrenaline coach Dustin Goolsby during Seasons 2 and 3 — is opening up about the split.

"It was mutual, amicable, he's a wonderful man," Cheyenne tells Entertainment Tonight. The longtime couple had tied the knot just two years ago, and the actor says that it is “a sad thing anytime a relationship ends.”

In addition to discussing the end of his marriage, Cheyenne confirmed the rumors that he is in Alcoholics Anonymous. However, he says that some members of his family weren’t even aware that he was in AA before reading about it in the press, and he’s extremely frustrated that they had to find out this way.

Cheyenne also took a moment to remember former Glee co-star Cory Monteith (Finn), who died suddenly of a heroin and alcohol overdose on July 13. More than anything else, Cheyenne says he remembers what a kind person Cory was.

"That was the first thing that struck me about him, was his kindness," he says. “"You could tell he was a leader among the cast.”

The Glee cast and crew returned to work today to begin filming Season 5. Our hearts go out to everyone as they come together during this difficult time.
