Chris Brown Released From Jail Early — “Humbled and Blessed,” He Says (VIDEO)
Chris Brown is no longer behind bars. The Associated Pressreports that the 25-year-old music star was released from a Los Angeles County jail at 12:01 a.m. today, June 2 — though that's all the details immediately available.
Chris was first sent to jail in March after violating the rules of and being expelled from a court-mandated rehab program. The "Loyal" singer was receiving treatment for anger management, substance abuse, and bipolar disorder — some or all of which may have been a factor in his 2009 assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna.
In May, a Superior Court judge ordered Chris to stay in jail when Chris copped up to attacking a man in Washington, D.C., in October.
The judge sentenced Chris to a full year in jail but gave him eight months of time served for Chris's time in rehab and jail and his good behavior — ultimately decreeing that Chris would serve 131 days.
As AP notes, officials speculated at the time that Chris's jail term would be further reduced by the final tally.
Even though he's free from jail, however, Chris still has an estimated 800 hours of community labor to perform.
