Chris Brown Should Get Sober, Says Recovery Expert — Exclusive
Will a three-month stint in rehab help Chris Brown with his anger issues? Perhaps. But if he's serious about turning himself around, he needs to get sober as well, according to Jennifer Gimenez — addiction expert, owner of SoberBook.com, and star of VH1's Sober House.
Jennifer, for her part, is skeptical about claims from Chris's camp that he's merely in rehab to control his temper. "Personally, I don't think people go to rehab for any reason other than substance issues," she exclusively tells Wetpaint Entertainment.
She is quick to point out, however, that she commends him for seeking help in the first place. "For whatever reason he's claiming to go," she continues, "it's a great thing he did."
But she does feel the key to recovery is giving up drugs and alcohol. According to E! News, friends of Brown had been concerned about potential abuse.
"He's a good kid, but he keeps messing up," a source tells E! "He needs help. He keeps self-medicating with weed and alcohol, and that's when he always gets in trouble."
Says Gimenez, "I think getting sober would be the healthiest thing Chris has done in a long time. Hopefully the seeds will be planted now that he's in treatment."
