We were sorry to hear about the recent death of Chris Hardwick’s father, champion bowler Billy Hardwick, but at least the TV host does have some good news to celebrate this week.
Chris juggles multiple projects beyond Talking Dead, AMC’s post-show analysis that follows every Sunday night episode of The Walking Dead. He also has a Comedy Central show called @midnight, which airs after The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. According to The Hollywood Reporter, @midnight has just been renewed, with the network ordering 40 more weeks worth of shows. New episodes will start January 6, 2014.
What is @midnight about? As the show site explains, Chris leads three celebrity contestants “down the ultimate internet wormhole. Culling from the darkest recesses of social media, they will compete to determine who has the funniest take on the day's pop culture.”
"We're amazed at how quickly @midnight has resonated with our fans,” the network's original programming president Kent Alterman said in a statement. “If the Internet catches on and social media becomes a part of pop culture, we think we'll really have something here." Ha!
Chris is also pretty happy about the renewal. "I don't have adequate words to express how excited I am that we are going to be a fixture of late night in 2014. Huge thanks to the amazing teams at Funny Or Die, Serious Business, and Tom Lennon and Ben Garant. They've made this process one of the most rewarding and fun experiences of my life. Finally, to the fantastic folks at Comedy Central, I say, POINTS!!!"

The Hollywood Reporter noted that AMC has yet to formally renew Talking Dead for another season, even though TWD Season 5 is already a go. It’s probably coming back, though. Do you like the hour format or did you prefer when it was half an hour?
Anyway, congrats to Chris and company!
