Will Chris Harrison’s Romance Novel Have Sex Scenes? He Says…

As host of the Bachelor franchises, Chris Harrison has to take a back seat to the romance and facilitate the growing connections between leads and their contestants. But though his eternal professionalism and quick wittedness might make him seem like a robot at times, Chris is a man, too, and he knows what love is — which is what he’s planning to demonstrate in his forthcoming romance novel, The Perfect Letter.

The work of fiction, which comes out this May, was actually a long time coming — five years, the host/executive producer shared with AfterBuzz TV on the Evolution of Relationship Reality Shows panel red carpet at The Paley Center for Media this week. As we knew already, Chris had a run-in with the king of romance novels, Nicholas Sparks, five years ago that got him on this “journey.” It turned out to be the perfect next project for the multi hyphenate.

“I’m not going to write a tell all, I’m not going to write a dating book — I’m not going to be that guy,” he explained this week.

And though it’s not biographical by any means, Chris does admit that portions of the story were influenced by his own experiences. “It’s completely fictional and kind of torn from stuff in my life — it’s set in Texas, where I’m from. No roses, nothing to do with The Bachelor. But if you love The Bachelor, it is that romance. It is that escape, that journey. It’s the action, the drama, the whole thing. It’s just the search for true love.”

Now, we all know that when romances are translated into book form, they usually contain a few good steamy love scenes. So will Harrison be serving up the sexiness in his foray?

“[There’s] just enough mommy porn in there to keep everybody excited,” he stated smiling. Though, don’t worry, there’s none of that super kinky stuff — we don’t think we’d be able to look at Chris on the show ever again if there was. “Think more Notebook and Nicholas Sparks, less 50 Shades. But there’s some good stuff in the middle. There’s some stuff mommy might want to read at night when the kids aren’t awake.”

Ow ow! Want to see what exactly Chris was talking about? The Perfect Letter is now available for pre-order on Amazon, and will be in stores on May 19!
