Chris Martin Finds Love in Coldplay’s New Music Video For “Magic” (VIDEO)

Just weeks after Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow’s conscious uncoupling, Coldplay's latest video has the frontman finding love — in what appears to be a very conscious coupling — all over again.

“Magic,” the debut single off the band’s forthcoming album Ghost Stories, is a love song, so it makes sense that the video should also tell an epic love story. The plot, which mimics a 1920s silent film, revolves around Cecile, "a beautiful young magicienne” (played by Zhang Ziyi), Claude, "her mustachioed husband, the famous but drunk magician” (played by Chris Martin) and Cecile's assistant Christoph (also played by Chris Martin!). Basically, there’s lots of levitation and even a bit of knife-play involved in the five-minute video.

Coldplay released a snippet of the album back in February when they dropped the eerie teaser video for “Midnight” — the album's second single. Ghost Stories is the band’s first release in three years.

The band recently made headlines when frontman Chris Martin and wife Gwyneth Paltrow announced their conscious uncoupling after 10 years of marriage in a Goop newsletter on March 25.

“It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate,” the statement read. “We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate.”

Ghost Stories will hit shelves on May 19, 2014. What do you think of the video? Sound off in the comments!
