Chris Pratt and Anna Faris Reportedly Broke Up Over Family Plans (UPDATE)
Apparently, it all came down to a difference of opinion about the future of their family.
It seems like neither Anna nor Chris expected him to become such a big star…
According to TMZ’s sources, Anna wants more kids and a steady family life in Los Angeles.
But the sources say Chris doesn’t want more kids — because he has to travel all over the world for his A-list career. (He stars in the upcoming films Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Avengers: Infinity War, for example.)
There are other reasons, the sources say, but this one is the biggie. And though they’re planning on divorcing, the breakup should be “as amicable as it gets,” TMZ reports.
Now keep reading for details on their cohabitation… and those pesky Jennifer Lawrence rumors.
UPDATE (8/8/2017 10:19 a.m. ET): A source tells HollywoodLife.com Chris Pratt has not moved out of the house he shares with soon-to-be-ex-wife Anna Faris and their son, Jack, since he has been traveling a lot recently:
“Anna and Chris are taking the separation slowly and are trying to be considerate of each other’s feelings. Chris still has his things at their house in the Hollywood Hills that he still considers his home. He is in no rush to move or to grab his stuff and run.
“For now the couple are trying to take things one step at a time and just announcing the separation was difficult and traumatic enough. Anna and Chris have been inching closer to this decision for years, it was not something they took lightly or that happened over night. They have been together for years so the breakup will likely take some time, too.”
Now keep reading to see how fans are blaming Jennifer Lawrence for Chris and Anna’s split…
Original story (8/7/2017 7:13 p.m. ET): All of us hopeless romantics were shocked yesterday, August 6, to learn that Chris Pratt and Anna Faris are divorcing.
They were so cute together! They were a power couple! They seemed perfect for one another! What happened?!
That wench Jennifer Lawrence, say some people, casting aspersions that Chris and his Passengers co-star took their on-screen romance off-screen.
“We are sad to announce we are legally separating,” Chris and Anna said in a joint statement yesterday.
“We tried for hard for a long time and we’re really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much, and for his sake, we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward.
“We still love each other and will always cherish our time together.”
Chris and Anna had been an item for ten years, meeting on the set of the retro-comedy Take Me Home Tonight, in which they played love interests.
By 2008, they were engaged; by 2009, they were wed; and by 2012, they were the proud parents of son Jack, who’s about to turn 5 years old.
They really seemed like a Hollywood success story, which is why people are grasping at straws to know what happened between them.
A big Mother's Day kiss and hug across the pond to my darling wife @annafaris and our sweet boy. I miss you both so much. I love you. Due to forced perspective in this picture Jack looks much bigger than Anna. How beautiful are they!? And the azaleas too! Richmond Park in full bloom. #happymothersday
One of those straws, it turns out, is an Oscar-winning actress.
“Chris Pratt and Anna Farris [sic] are filing for divorce,” tweeted @WokeMutant. “I feel like Jennifer Lawrence has a role in this. Bitch has a role in everything.”
Tweeted @___Vin, “Today's Headline: Chris Pratt and Anna Faris separating. Next Month's Headline: Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence dating.”
Some Twitter users even acknowledge that this conspiracy theory is unfounded.
“I don't know why but I blame Jennifer Lawrence for Chris and Anna getting divorced,” posted @TheMattHart2007.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time rumor mill has gotten wound up about Chris and J.Law…
“It made me feel incredibly insecure,” she told buddy Isla Fisher.
“Chris and I, we talk about this a lot. We grapple with a lot of the ideas of being a public couple.
“I just remember feeling so hurt in a way that bothered me, because I didn't want to think of myself as somebody who could be affected by … tabloid shit.”
For her part, Jennifer has seemed respectful of her co-star’s marriage. She even found their sex scene in Passengers unbearable.
“He was married,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “And it was going to be my first time kissing a married man, and guilt is the worst feeling in your stomach. And I knew it was my job, but I couldn’t tell my stomach that.”
As Refinery29 points out, the assumption that Jennifer is to blame for Chris and Anna’s split is inherently sexist. For example, why are the fans who think an affair happened blaming Jen and not Chris?
Besides, there’s no substantive proof Jen has anything to do with this marriage’s sad ending, Gossip Cop attests.
Can we just go back to the times of Jennifer Lawrence being the Internet’s GIF and meme golden child?
