Sometimes we get so caught up in his poetry, we forget Chris Siegfried is also a total baseball jock! Bachelorette Desiree Hartsock’s fiancé was a pitcher in the minor leagues for a few years, and he’s returning to the field of dreams pretty soon! But not as seriously as you might hope.
Back in 2007, Chris was drafted by the Chicago Cubs organization in the 11th round of the Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft while he was a student at the University of Portland. He played in the minors until 2011, when he returned to the university to finish his degree in economics.
Chris recently talked to the University of Portland’s newspaper about his post-Bachelorette plans, including a return to the UP for alumni baseball games — with Des as his cheerleader! “Yeah the alumni weekend is [September] 13th, 14th and 15th so I’ll be down there playing a game,” Chris told The Beacon. “We’re just gonna kinda hang out. The game’s at 1 p.m. on Saturday.”
“Down there” means Chris and Des will travel from their home in Seattle 200 miles to Portland. If you’ll be in the Portland area that weekend, you can see Chris in action — uniform and all? — and maybe pepper him and Des with wedding questions and report them back to us. They’ll love that!
