Chris Soules, Whitney Bischoff End Engagement After 6 Months
"Whitney Bischoff and Chris Soules have mutually and amicably decided to end their engagement, Us Weekly reports. They part with nothing but respect and admiration for one another and will continue to be supportive friends. They wish to thank everyone who has supported them through this journey."
Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss further confirmed on Twitter that the couple ended their six-month engagement.
It's always tough when our favorite Bachelor couples break up — Andi Dorfman and Josh Murray were the most recent duo to end their engagement — but Chris and Whit have been dropping hints for awhile that this might be coming.
When the Iowa farmer joined the cast of Dancing With the Stars right after wrapping up The Bachelor, he and Whitney moved to Los Angeles together for the experience. But as the show picked up — and those practices with dance pro Witney Carson went 'round the clock — it seemed like the reality TV couple's relationship took a toll.
In April, while he was still competing, Chris told Glamour that Whitney had left L.A. and went back to her home in Chicago. He added, "And now [this process is] getting really intense. I’m not even existent to her."
But despite hearing that, we still thought Chris and Whit might be working it out, based on some Instagram posts showing a farm visit and Chris' more recent interviews. "We're together, and we're in love. We're making the best of a really cool situation that we're both a part of that's not going to last much longer… We're just normal people living a kind of abnormal life for a couple more weeks," Chris told Us Weekly on May 4.
While we don't know the specifics of the split yet, we can't help but wonder how runner-up Becca Tilley feels about it. During the show, Chris was candid about having a hard time making a decision between Whitney and Becca. But his decision was pretty much made for him when Becca expressed that she wasn't ready for a proposal.
