The previews for USA’s newest reality show, Chrisley Knows Best, may appear to show the Atlanta-based Chrisley family living the high life down south, but off-screen, the family’s struggling just to keep the clothes on their backs.
The family, led by patriarch real estate mogul Todd, is putting on a show for cameras with their luxury cars, homes, and closets full of designer clothes, because in reality, they’re living with staggering debt.
RadarOnline.com reports that Todd owes a whopping $45 million to creditors and has a comparitively paltry $4.2 million in assets.
Now Todd is fighting to keep what he can — and he’s particularly insistent upon about not parting with any of his fancy duds.
“There is a very limited market for used men’s clothing, and accordingly the Debtor stands by his valuation of his wearing apparel,” says the family lawyer, in an attempt to keep his client living in style.
While it remains uncertain whether or not Todd will get to keep his fancy clothing, he hasn’t had much leniency regarding the rest of his property.
In an attempt to keep some semblance of his dignity, Todd paid $1300 to buy back his wedding ring, in addition to nearly $5000 to keep his family Range Rover.
Just our two cents, but it sounds like when it comes to money, Chrisley knows less.
