If your fave judge on The Voice is Christina Aguilera, you’re going to love what NBC has in store for you this week. The soulful singer will be performing “How I Feel” with Flo Rida on the Tuesday, November 4, episode and, on Wednesday, November 5, she’ll perform “Say Something” with A Great Big World.
The two performances will certainly be on opposite ends of the spectrum. “How I Feel” is the supercharged debut single off Flo Rida’s fifth studio album, The Perfect 10. On the other hand, “Say Something” is a tender ballad that spoke to Xtina in a way that not many songs have. In fact, she and Ian and Chad of A Great Big World were recently featured in a video on YouTube that explained how they came together to collaborate on the song, which was first featured on So You Think You Can Dance, occurred.
“When our manager told us that Christina wanted to sing on one of the tracks...on “Say Something”...it was really hard to process,” Chad admits.
“We found out a week ago that she [Christina] heard it, and a week later we’re in LA,” Ian reveals.
As for Christina’s part, she says, “It came to me at a time when I’m feeling very inspired.”
We may or may not have teared up a little bit at this next part (okay, we did). She went on to say, “It’s so simple and it’s so quiet and still and steady and, in a way, pleading to hear something...to hear some kind of answer or get an answer in the most humble, unassuming, non-demanding way.”
Who knew Christina was so profound? You touched us, girlfriend. You touched us.
The song means just as much or more to both Chad and Ian.
As Ian explains, “When we wrote this song, we felt so alone...we write to heal ourselves but we also write to connect...we’re all in this thing together.”
Ian goes on to say, “We feel like we died to kind of write this song and we came back to life. To be able to share that is the ultimate reason to live.”
Wednesday’s show could be emotional, folks! Which performance are you most looking forward to by Christina this week?
