The collaboration between indie up-and-comers A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera on their song “Say Something” has taken the world by storm. And now they’ll be taking the stage together once again to perform the emotional ballad at the 2013 American Music Awards.

The show – which has already lined up other big name artists like Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, and many more – will broadcast live from the NOKIA Theatre LIVE on Sunday, November 24 from 8 pm – 11 pm ET/PT on ABC.

With artists like Lady Gaga performing, there will certainly be some highly theatrical performances, so “Say Something” will be quite a departure from the rest. In fact, its quiet nature and moving lyrics were what spawned The Voice coach to reach out to Ian Axel and Chad Vaccarino to suggest the collaboration.

As she said in an interview featured on YouTube, “It’s so simple and it’s so quiet and still and steady and, in a way, pleading to hear something...to hear some kind of answer or get an answer in the most humble, unassuming, non-demanding way.”

It’s apparently had the same profound effect on listeners, as the song recently nabbed the #1 spot on iTunes and Billboard’s Digital Songs Chart.

The video for the song probably gives you a fairly good idea of what the performance will look like on the night of the AMAs. Grab your tissues, folks, as this song packs a powerful emotional punch.
