What a difference a year makes, especially if you’re Christina Aguilera. We took a look at The Voice coach’s photos from the American Music Awards last year versus this year, and though she’s always beautiful, there’s no denying Xtina’s weight loss has had a dramatic effect on her overall style and wardrobe choices.
Last year, the pop diva donned a purple hued wrap dress by Pamella Roland that showed off her curves. This year, the slimmed-down singer chose a simple but super sexy white floor-length Maria Lucia Hohan gown with strategic cut-outs to show off her petite yet svelte frame.
It’s no huge surprise to us Voice fans, as the popular coach has seriously altered her look this season, showing off a much more demure side many nights. An inside source has said that the “Beautiful” singer was asked by producers to “tone down” her look this season. And instead of getting offended by the suggestion, Xtina reportedly took it to heart.
"She is recording a new album that she wants to be a hit, so the new image can't hurt," the source told In Touch. "She thinks she looks great and isn't hiding behind 10 lbs of hair extensions."
Whatever she’s done, she’s shown that confidence is the sexiest trait one can “wear,” and she wore it well for her moving yet understated performance of “Say Something” with A Great Big World’s Ian Axel on last night’s AMAs. Xtina took the stage wearing another simple gown — this time it was a floor-length black gown with a high slit up the side. As she did on the show recently, she wore the headband braid and understated makeup, giving the emotional song that has captured America’s hearts the chance to shine. The heart-wrenching single debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Digital Songs chart and at No. 16 on the Hot 100 chart.
If you’re looking to be moved, check out the video for “Say Something.” Be forewarned, though — you may be a victim of the “ugly cry” while watching this, so we recommend doing it alone.
