The Voice coach and pop diva Christina Aguilera has been off the market since Valentine’s Day, having gotten engaged in Hawaii to longtime boyfriend and film producer Matt Rutler. People Magazine has the scoop on the boulder rock she’s sporting now that the two are betrothed, and it comes with a seriously romantic backstory. Warning: If you’re feeling negative about your suitor, you may want to disregard the rest of this article.

A source for the magazine told People that the ring — which Xtina shared with fans via Twitter on Friday — has been in the works for quite some time.

“Matt spent over a year designing the ring with the ring designer to represent their three-year journey together as a couple,” the source revealed. “He has been planning this for a while and was just waiting for the right time — the ring has been done for months. Every single placement of each stone has a reason and meaning.”

The Twitter pic read, “He asked and I said …,” allowing the beautiful bauble speak for itself.

We have to think this “source” is someone who helped Matt design the ring, as the person had intricate knowledge of the symbolism behind it.

“There are nine special multi-color gemstones that you cannot see. They all symbolize something meaningful to the couple,” the source explained. “Christina is very spiritual and having the stones touch her actual skin will emit positive energies surrounding her at all times. They represent things like love, protection and healing.”

The ring narrows at the base, reportedly to signify how their relationship has grown even stronger over time. Matt took two of Christina’s favorite rings and enlisted designs from both of them to create the vintage setting for the masterpiece.

“It’s similar to both their lives coming together as one,” the source continued.

Le sigh. We don’t know about you, but we think the “Say Something” singer found a keeper!
