As excited as we are that Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) has a new half-sister in her life, we're still mourning the demise of the O.G. half-sib — Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh).
Our beloved Lexipedia died at the end of Season 8 in the plane crash that also ultimately killed the love of her life, Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) — ending a legendary One True Pairing and cutting Lexie's promising career short.
Now, two seasons later, Chyler Leigh is dreaming up the future for Lexie we never got to see, imagining a career trajectory for her on-screen alter-ego.
"I think Lexie's specialty would've been neuro," she tweeted, responding to a fan's question. "Her skill plus Derek's (Patrick Dempsey) mentorship would've made her a force to be reckoned with. #brainsrule" (She also adds an emoji face with a surgical mask.)
Makes sense! Lexie joined her brother-in-law on a plethora of complicated neuro cases toward the end of her life — and proved to quite the quick study.
The 32-year-old also responded when a Twitter follower asked if she kept in touch with her Grey's co-stars: "Yes, here and there over the years. We're gypsies in this biz, so it can be hard."
In case all this has made you wax nostalgic for Chyler, don't despair! Her new show, Taxi Brooklyn, premieres Wednesday, June 25, at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
Do you think Chyler's prediction is spot-on? Or can you think of an alternate future for the late doc? Let us know in the comments below.
