Clare Crawley made us all #TeamClare on The Bachelor 2014 finale when Juan Pablo Galavis rejected her! But it wasn’t just an easy hug and goodbye like on other seasons. Rather, Clare stood up for herself.
After making a heartfelt speech to Juan Pablo about how much she wanted to be there, he told her he wouldn’t be marrying her after all. “I appreciate you being here and trusting me all along,” El Bachelor told the 32-year-old Sacramento hairstylist. After a few niceties, he told her “I have to follow what I think is best for me and I have to say goodbye to you.”
But when he went in for a hug — and, let’s be real, probably tried to get one more besito — she put up her hands to stop him. “Tell me,” he prompted her, as if she wasn’t going to anyway.
Clare didn’t hold anything back. “This entire time I’ve stuck around because I believed in you. And the other night, on our last date, when you came over and we spent our last hour together, I needed that reassurance. And I gave you the opportunity.” Shortly before he stopped by, she had a realization in the helicopter when he told her something so offensive, she wouldn’t even repeat it.
“I wanted to do it because I believed in us. I’ve saved this moment for the man of my dreams. And I thought that was you. And I thought I knew what kind of man you were. Sharleen didn’t have the feelings for you, it wasn’t there. Andi did the same thing. You had every opportunity like those girls did to tell me how you feel.”
She continued. “It doesn’t matter to me. I lost respect for you ... I thought I knew what kind of man you were. But what you just made me go through, I would never want my children having a father like you.” And with that, she turned and walked away from him. The live audience applauded her as they watched from the studio.
Juan Pablo’s only comment? “Whew, I’m glad I didn’t pick her.” (Did you really expect remorse for what he did? Of course not.)
After hugging Chris Harrison, she got on a boat and sailed away, leaving her final thoughts with the camera. “I’m sad to say this but he’s truly not the man I thought he was. It’s hard because I truly had faith in him. It’s just so disappointing. It’s so disappointing. I didn’t want to run this time, even when I felt weak and just needed to give him every opportunity to the last minute. It’s easy to kiss and show me your feelings. But don’t tell me you loved f—ing me. Don’t tell me you can see yourself in Sacramento and that your family loved me. I know it’s about following your heart … where’s the man that would fight for me?”
So, what happens with Nikki Ferrell? Stay tuned.
