Did Clare Crawley Really Have Sex With Juan Pablo in Vietnam? She Says…

Clare Crawley and Juan Pablo Galavis stirred up a ton of controversy on The Bachelor on Monday, February 3. On the episode, set in Vietnam, Clare and Juan Pablo made out in a boat on the group date, then he took her away from the after-party to make out with her in his private pool, and then they went swimming at 4 a.m. and… did what, exactly? The question has been clogging up the Internet since the episode aired, and now Clare is talking to reporters to set the record straight.

On a February 6 conference call, she clarified exactly what went down. "I don't think it was made clear by anybody that that's not what happened ... that wasn't my intention going into it [and] everyone in the situation knows that's not what happened," Clare told reporters (as relayed by TV Guide) when asked if she had gone all the way with El Bachelor.

In the episode, she approached Juan Pablo’s suite in the wee hours, telling him that her bucket list included a desire to “swim in warm water” — and she holds to that reasoning for her late night rendez-don’t. “I was doing something that was on my bucket list and I don't regret it, to this second, even after this outcome...I just want the reality of it to be out there and the truth to be out there instead of the short clips people are seeing. I wanted to be able to elaborate on that."

Good to know! Many have speculated on exactly what went down on the episode, especially since the day of the rose ceremony resulted in some of the most awkward Bachelor — or any relationship, for that matter — moments of all time. On the beach after the makeout session, Clare compared herself to a baby giraffe with wobbly legs, leading a majority of Wetpaint readers to assume they had sex.

And later, some more clever footage seemed to confirm what wasn’t being addressed directly. Namely, Clare seemed giddy, making a toast with the 13 remaining women and Juan Pablo to “finding love, being loved, and making love.”

Later, Juan Pablo pulled her aside to tell her they had made a mistake, using all the sorts of words you would use to tell a one-night stand that it was going to be just that: a one time thing. Worse, he implied that it was her fault not only in the moment, but also in his Bachelor blog this week. In it, he wrote “She was so happy that I didn't want to reject her, but I definitely made a mistake.” Uh, OK, pal.

Hopefully, now that Clare has addressed the octopus in the room, we can all go easy on talking about how much she scarred Juan Pablo’s non-show-watching daughter
