CMA Awards 2013: George Strait Wins Entertainer of the Year

It was a long night of stunning dresses, phenomenal performances, and toe-tapping country goodness at the 47th Annual Country Music Awards on November 6, 2013. But none of that compared to the moment country legend George Strait took home the most coveted honor of the night — Entertainer of the Year.

The 61-year-old “Check Yes or No” singer took 2013 with full force, proving that he’s still got it. He released Love Is Everything earlier this year and thanks to his super-catchy single, “Give it All We Got Tonight,” he took the music charts by storm and won the votes of his industry peers.

George was facing some pretty tough competition in the coveted category this year, going up against Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, and Taylor Swift and it was a nail-biter there at the end. But not even Blake’s Male Vocalist of the Year win just before was enough to take down this true legend of the genre.

Are you glad George took home tonight’s big prize or do you think someone else was more deserving? Hit the comments and let us know!
