CMA Awards 2013: Kacey Musgraves Wins New Artist of the Year!

Kacey Musgraves may be a newcomer to the Country Music Association Awards, but that doesn’t mean this brunette beauty is fresh on the country music scene. The 25-year-old singer has her roots deeply embedded in the genre and took home her first-ever award tonight!

At the 47th Annual CMA Awards, Kacey was nominated for a grand total of six awards, including Single of the Year and Song of the Year, but after losing both of those, she snagged the New Artist of the Year Award, proving that she’s here to stay. And hey, she was nominated for the same number of awards as Taylor Swift this year, which basically means she’s the next best thing in country music.

Kacey self-released three albums before appearing on Season 5 of Nashville Star in 2007 — she came in seventh overall. Since then, this Texas girl’s career has taken off and she’s been touring and writing up a storm (for herself, other stars, and ABC’s Nashville). This singer-songwriter took country music by storm this year and we’re predicting huge things from her in the future.

Are you a new fan of Kacey’s or have you been sipping the Kool-Aid for a while now? Hit the comments and let us know!
