Cody Simpson Says His Relationship With Gigi Hadid Isn’t “Over For Good”

It may have only been a few weeks since Cody Simpson and Gigi Hadid officially called off their relationship, but if you ask Cody, their goodbyes aren’t meant to last forever. In fact, Cody says that he and Gigi, the daughter of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’s Yolanda Foster, are far from over.

“I definitely don’t imagine it being over for good,” Cody admitted to People. “We’re still really good friends and we chat. We just had to slow it down.

Cody also confirmed that their breakup was because of their crazy schedules, which is totally understandable. Cody’s a pop star, Gigi’s a Sports Illustratedmodel, and life gets busy. And for right now, Cody wants to focus on his career. If it’s meant to be, it will be — just later rather than sooner in this case.

And a big part of why Cody likes Gigi so much? She’s an older woman, which is totally Cody’s type. Okay, so she’s 19 and Cody’s 17, which doesn’t seem like that big of a difference, but it works for him.

“I’m a big fan when a girl is smarter than you,” Cody said. “That’s why I’ve been with older girls, ‘cause I like intelligence.”

Smart move, Cody! Not that he isn’t pretty smart himself — he did recently graduate as the valedictorian of his high school class, so we’re not surprised that Cody is looking for a girl with brains… and that when he’s trying to chat up a girl who could be a potential date, he doesn’t resort to lowly pick-up lines to do the work for him.

“An intelligent way to use pick-up lines is don’t use pick-up lines,” Cody offered. “The best way is through handling a situation with confidence — hint at a girl but not be too forward.”

Solid advice. Cody tested, girl approved.
