Columbus Short Gives Grating Interview Post-Scandal Season 3 Finale

Things aren’t looking too good for both Columbus Short and his on-screen Scandal character, Harrison Wright, as last night’s Season 3 finale left things up in the air for Harrison. As for life off camera, just two days ago, TMZ reported Columbus’s second wife, Tuere “Tanee” McCall-Short, filed a restraining order against him following a fight in which she claims he threatened her life.

And if that wasn’t awkward enough, Columbus gave one of the most grating interviews on the Tom Joyner Morning Show, just hours after the Scandal finale aired. Topics on the table ranged from Harrison’s (spoiler!) possible death and Columbus’s new music and the exchange was… sigh.

When host Tom Joyner asked Columbus about his new single, “Gave Ya,” which Columbus later described as a message for women who aren’t confident about themselves. The exchange between the two was pretty curt:

Tom: “Did you always plan to release a song? Was that in the plan?”
Columbus: “No, that wasn’t in the plan.”
Tom: “When were you originally going to release this song?”
Columbus: “When it was ready.”
Tom: “And when was that?”
Columbus: “Right now.”

Finally co-host J. Anthony Brown addressed Columbus and asked him “you just don’t want people talking to you?” Columbus then tried to be more social, by saying that he was keeping it “1000,” but he clearly wasn’t in the mood for conversation — especially when talk of his wife came up.

When co-host Sybil Wilkes asked Columbus what Tanee thought of his song, “Gave Ya,” he responded, “Uh, I don’t care. How about I don’t care.

Realizing that the conversation was pretty much over after that, Tom Joyner wished Columbus a ton of success with co-host J. Anthony Brown saying, “I think I said it best. If you don’t do interviews….” and you know what? We kind of agree.
