Columbus Short Pleads Not Guilty in Assault and Battery Case (VIDEO)

Former Scandal star Columbus Short has found himself embroiled in a real-life scandal after allegedly punching a man during a bar fight back in March.

The Hollywood Reporter reports Columbus appeared in court over the trials, where the actor pleaded not guilty to felony battery. Columbus's attorney also attempted to fast track the case, but the judge ruled that the injuries under question rendered the case ineligible for such fast-tracking. Watch the hearing for yourself in the video above.

Columbus's next court date is set for June 5. At that point, the date for the preliminary hearing in the trial will be set.

This is not the only legal trouble Columbus is currently facing. Columbus's wife, Tanee Short, has filed a restraining order against the actor, claiming that Columbus threatened to kill her and then himself, and threatened her with a knife. She has also filed for divorce. A hearing about the restraining order is scheduled for May 21, 2014.

Columbus played Harrison Wright for three years on Scandal. However, at the end of the Season 3 finale Harrison's fate was left up in the air, and it was recently announced Columbus will not be returning to the show.
